6, IceFishingPA (IFPA)Tournament trail
Their third tournament of the 2010 season at Silver Lake, Wyoming County NY. The IFPA features six ice fishing tournaments across the Northeast, where up to seventy five of the best ice fisherman from the region compete for up to $6000 in cash prizes. These skilled anglers compete in an intense one day six hour contest attempting to catch a wining weight of panfish. A mandatory rules meeting, followed by a free ice fishing seminar that is open to the public, will be held the day prior to the tournament at the Perry F.D. Community Center located in the Village of Perry Park. Registration will begin at 3:30 and the seminar will begin at 5:30. Tournament director Byron Eckardt announced that Park Lake Motel located in Perry, NY (www.parklakemotel.com) has been named the, “Official Lodging Partner” for the 1st annual Go Wyoming Silver Lake Winter Classic. The Village Hall of Wyoming is open for a tour , as well as the personal collection of Prof. Henry Ward of Ward Science in Rochester, New York. Special guests will be available to share their knowledge about a particular aspect of the collection. Henry Augustus Ward, scientist, explorer, museum builder and founder of the Ward's Natural Science Establishment, was born in Rochester in 1834. Among the places he studied at was the Middlebury Academy in the Village of Wyoming. Mr. Ward collected geological specimens in Europe and Africa. In 1865 he taught natural science at the University of Rochester, and began to supply colleges and universities with geological cabinets. This work was the beginning of the Science Establishment. Special guests will be available to share their knowledge about a particular aspect of the collection. Henry Augustus Ward, scientist, explorer, museum builder and founder of the Ward's Natural Science Establishment, was born in Rochester in 1834. Among the places he studied at was the Middlebury Academy in the Village of Wyoming. Mr. Ward collected geological specimens in Europe and Africa. In 1865 he taught natural science at the University of Rochester, and began to supply colleges and universities with geological cabinets. This work was the beginning of the Science Establishment.
